Method 1: Rename Your QuickBooks Company File
As per the guidelines, you can only open the company file in QuickBooks that has up to or less than 64 characters in its name. If you feel, your company file has more characters in its name, then you have to edit it and shorten it.
Open the folder containing your company file.
Then right-click the company file and choose Rename.
Now, check the total number of characters in your company file name. It should be 64, including the four letters of the .qbw file extension.
